There are times when you may want to know how the hard disk space is distributed and how much space some folders or files take up. Knowing this information will allow you to quickly see which large files can be deleted, thus saving disk space. Unfortunately, Windows Explorer doesn't offer this information, as it can only display the space occupied by files and not folders. That's why one should use a specialized application for this. One such program is SizeExplorer Pro. This simple Windows program can classify folders according to the total size of the files contained by them.

As it's a Windows program, it can be installed in a flash and used like most other Windows programs, in the easiest manner possible. When launching the application, the user will be displayed a Windows Explorer-like interface. For allowing the program to do its magic and display all the folder sizes, the refresh button should be clicked. After scanning all the files and folders stored on the hard disk, the program will automatically organize all the folders according to size. The size of a folder can be displayed in two ways, either as a value or as a percent of the total partition size. This will allow the user to find out how much hard disk space a certain folder takes up on the hard disk.

Most of the times, large files or crowded folders can be safely deleted, as they are considered junk files. Doing so will allow you to save a lot of hard disk space. For saving time with scanning files and folders in case the program is reinstalled, the exploration of all the hard disk data can be saved as a file and reloaded later on.

Pros:
It features a simple Windows Explorer-like interface which can organize all the files and folders according to their size. Besides that, the size of a folder can be displayed either as a value or as a percent of the total partition size. What's more, the program supports virtually any file, folder or partition size. Furthermore, the exploration information can be saved as a file, for reusing it later on.

Cons:
The program cannot display the size of the folders as a chart, which would have made it even easier to see which folder takes up the most hard disk space.

SizeExplorer Pro is a very useful app for scanning all the files and folders stored on the hard disk and displaying which ones take the most hard disk space.
